Brion and Sue Showalter leased their first scrapers in 1978 to start Showalter Construction. By 1981 they owned them outright, and the rest, as they say, is heavy equipment history.
For the first decade the work was mostly land leveling for irrigation, serving the agricultural community. As dozers, loaders, trucks, and laser-guided systems were added, the business grew, and when Idaho's dairy industry took off, Showalter grew right along with it.
Brion and Sue built a mass excavation company reputable in both product and service. One built to stand the test of time, and to carry on as a family legacy.
Today, Brion and Sue's sons, Beau, Chad, and Caleb, run the day-to-day operations. If you have a job with Showalter, you'll talk to at least one of them. The next generation is already coming up behind them.
Nearly fifty years in, Showalter is still exactly what it always was: a family business. Four kids, nine grandkids, and a crew that stays for years, because here, you're not a number. You'll know the people you work for by name.
